Tabi!

An assertive, genre-defying turn — folk-driven textures meet grunge-leaning beats and a western touch, carried by the strum of the bangó. A full-circle return to her roots and a more fearless chapter ahead.

About

The artist

"Diwa" is the essence — the giver of the songs. "Tala" is the star — the guiding light for those who listen.

dwta is the moniker of Jhasmine Espinas Villanueva, a singer-songwriter born and raised in Tiwi, Albay in the Bicol Region. She came to songwriting almost by accident — invited to a workshop after jamming with friends — and found her truest voice writing in her native Bikol. She studied music business management at MINT College before signing with Sony Music Philippines.

Her work celebrates Filipino heritage and linguistic pride, blending folklore and indigenous instruments with contemporary folk-pop. She won an Awit Award for "Padaba Taka," joined Coke Studio Philippines and the Wanderland Festival, was named a Spotify RADAR Class of 2024 artist, and has since begun writing for others — co-writing BINI's "First Luv." Now she's stepping into a bolder era without ever letting go of her roots.
